Visitation and Services
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Charles Godwin will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday (September 4, 2012) at Hamilton's Crossroads Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Jeff Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday (September 3, 2012) at Davis Funeral Home in Monroe, 1003 East Franklin Street.

Mr. Charles Ronald Godwin, age 60, of Marshville, North Carolina, passed away Thursday (August 30, 2012) at his residence.

Mr. Godwin was born on December 25, 1951, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of Arnold Godwin of Marshville and Frances Thomas Godwin Williams of Marshville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Crawford and Bertha Godwin of Marshville and Rommie and Fannie Lee Thomas of Marshville.

He was a grading operator with Austin Grading Company, the owner of Gourdvine Creek Outfitters and was the former owner of Godwin Logging Company.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Jean Hjellming Godwin of Marshville; a son, Brandon Godwin and wife Amanda of Marshville; a daughter, Tonya Whitley and husband, Caleb of Stanfield; a brother, Larry Godwin and wife Cindy of Marshville; three sisters, Elaine Bullard and husband Phil of Kannapolis, Marie Godwin of Charlotte and Janet Edwards of Marshville; two grandchildren, Cody Whitley and Payton Whitley both of Stanfield; a stepfather, Homer Williams of Marshville; Janet Godwin, the mother of Brandon and Tonya; seven nephews, Phillip Bullard, Curtis Godwin, David Godwin, Cory Edwards, Conner Hjellming, Chad Hjellming and Austin Dessner; two nieces, Shelia Godwin and Brittany Bullard; two great nephews, Austin Baker and Luke Baker; and one great niece, Abigail Baker.
