Visitation and Services
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at 2:00 P. M., at Forest Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Bobby Pope and Rev. James Steed officiating. The Interment followed in the Forest Grove Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: David Smith, Stacey Kirkland, Corey Merritt, Edison Williams, Bobby Watkins, and Clay Spivey.
Special Musical Selections, “Amazing Grace”, and “Redeemed”, were presented by the Soloist, Sue Smith, with Randy Smith, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Randy Smith. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.

Mrs. Linda Gail Batten Gillis, age 56, of Nicholls passed away suddenly Sunday morning, August 12, 2012, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. Mrs. Gillis, a native of Ocilla, Georgia, was the daughter of the late Macajah Batten, Jr. She had earned a Paralegal Degree, a Nursing Degree, and other college credits. She had formerly worked with a local attorney. Mrs. Gillis was of the Church of God faith. Survivors include: Her Husband of 40 years: Jesse George Gillis of Nicholls, Ga. 1 Son: J. G. (Georgiana) Gillis of Nicholls, Ga. Her Mother and Step-Father: Ora Lee Larry Batten Lloyd, and Ed Lloyd, both of Douglas, Ga., 5 Grandchildren: Tristan Gillis, and Jordan Gillis, both of Douglas, Ga.; Jacob Etherton of Nicholls, Ga., Anna Lott, and Dalton Lott, both of Douglas, Ga., Foster Son: Gary (Rhonda) Etherton of Nicholls, Ga. 3 Brothers: Jimmy Ray Batten of Nicholls, Ga.; Gary Batten of Douglas, Ga., Ben Batten of Kentucky. 1 Sister: Marilyn Flynn of Kentucky. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.
