Visitation and Services
Family and friends will be received on Monday from 11 am to 12 noon at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with services to follow at 12 noon, Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
BARBARA (POURSANIDES) TSAFTARIDES, age 94 of Canton, passed away Wednesday morning. Born in Asia Minor to the late Ioannis and Despina Poursanides, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years Anestes Tsaftarides, son Miltiades Tsaftarides, daughters Despina Kollaras and Parthena Mihailides, brothers Stavros and Andonis Pousanides and sister Themia Karagiades. A resident of Canton since 1960, she was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Barbara loved to cook for family and friends, gardening and enjoying the company who would visit her. A lover of nature, she would be outside anytime of the year working in her garden or yard. She is survived by her children; George and Jill Tsaftarides of Canton, Christos and Saadia Tsaftarides of Florida, 12 grandchildren; Christina (Scott) Leishear, Voula (Steve) Papadoupoulos, Maria (Steve) Amanatides, Ann (Bruce) Marangio, Andy, Steve and Miltie Tsaftarides, Stelios and George Mihailides, Maximos “Saki” (Hanane) Mihailides, Georgia and Despina Tsaftarides, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of The Inn at Belden Village and Aultman Hospice for their compassionate care of our mother.
