Franklin Leroy “Winkie” Wilhoite, age 63, a resident of Cleveland passed away Sunday afternoon at the family residence. He was the son of the late Bessie May Rogers Whitener and J.D. Wilhoite. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Wilhoite, half brother, Halbert Whitener and nephew, Richard Nicholson. Winkie was as an avid Nascar and Dale Earnhardt Fan and enjoyed fishing. He was of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Wilhoite of Cleveland, son, Frankie Wilhoite Jr. of Cleveland, grandson, Dustin Ray Wilhoite of Cleveland, sisters, Sally Nicholson and her husband Roy of Lafayette, GA, and Patsy Nicholson of Birchwood., brother, John Wilhoite and his wife Margie of Birchwood, half sisters, Wilma Thompson and her husband Wayne of Cleveland, Frieda Moses and her husband Jeff of Cleveland and Betty Vandergriff and her husband Johnny of Birchwood, half brothers, Herbert Whitener and his wife Diane of Decatur and Claude Whitener and his wife Dana of Birchwood.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Reverend David Evans and Reverend Rod McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in McClanahan Cemetery with family and friends servings as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9:00 PM at Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes who in charge of the arrangements.
