Visitation and Services
Rev. Troy Hedges will conduct funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Vail-Holt Funeral Homes, Hilltop Chapel with interment in Bowery Cemetery in Memphis, Indiana.
Family and friends may call at the Vail-Holt Funeral Homes, Hilltop Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 19, 2010 and after 12 noon Tuesday until time of service.
Obituary
Dorothy I. (Dean) Malott, age 90 of Hanover, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus.
Born March 8, 1920 in Henryville, Indiana, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Lapham) Dean, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Malott in January of 1988; two daughters, Sue Sutter and Jonette Daggs; one son, J.L. Malott and a brother, Clarence Dean.
Mrs. Malott was a homemaker and owner/operator of Big John’s Restaurants in Salem and Paoli, Indiana for several years. She was a member of the Cook Memorial United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, IN. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, hydroplane boat racing and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Sedam and her husband, Jim of Madison, Ann Nelson of Sturgen, MN and Teresa Faunce of Miami, FL; two sons, Greg Malott of Jeffersonville, IN and Kevin Malott of Kendallville, IN; one sister, Delores Conn and her husband, Scotty of Jeffersonville, IN; sixteen grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preferred Charities and Donations
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association or the Hospice of South Central Indiana. Contribution cards will be available at the Vail-Holt Funeral Home.
